Balram Bhagat Joins The Wealth Company as Managing Partner to Drive Pension Innovations

Chandigarh-based The Wealth Company, a key player in the financial services sector under the Pantomath Group, has officially announced the appointment of Balram Bhagat as its new Managing Partner for Products and Pension. With an impressive track record that spans over thirty years in the pension and mutual fund industry, Bhagat is set to spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing the company’s product offerings and expanding financial inclusion.

Expertise in Pension Management

Prior to joining The Wealth Company, Balram Bhagat served as the CEO and Whole-time Director of UTI Pension Fund Ltd., where he was instrumental in establishing the organization as India’s third-largest pension fund. Under his leadership, UTI Pension Fund successfully managed assets exceeding ₹4,00,000 crore, significantly contributing to the National Pension System (NPS). His tenure was marked by a focus on excellent governance and innovative practices in pension fund management, earning the institution numerous accolades both domestically and internationally.

Bhagat’s experience is not limited to pension funds alone; he has also held key roles at UTI Mutual Fund where he was responsible for product sales and successfully launched socially conscious investment schemes and micro-pension initiatives. Additionally, his involvement in state-sponsored financial inclusion programs, such as the Mukhyamantri Kanya Suraksha Yojna, speaks to his commitment to improving access to savings and financial literacy for underserved populations.

Vision for The Wealth Company

In his new role, Bhagat aims to contribute significantly to The Wealth Company’s growth strategy, particularly in the retirement solutions sector. He expresses enthusiasm about working alongside Madhu Lunawat, the company’s Founder and Managing Director, who he describes as a dynamic leader dedicated to transforming asset management with innovative ideas. Bhagat’s focus will be to leverage his extensive experience in pension fund management and product innovation to develop scalable solutions that not only advance financial inclusion but also create lasting value for clients and stakeholders.

Balram Bhagat’s impressive educational background, which includes an M.A. in Economics, an MBA in Marketing, and qualifications in banking, further complements his professional expertise. He currently serves as an Independent Director on the Board of LIC Mutual Fund and has been an active member of the Pension Advisory Committee of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).

As the financial landscape evolves, Bhagat’s strategic leadership is expected to be a key catalyst for The Wealth Company’s ambitions in the pension sector, underscoring the increasing importance of retirement planning and accessibility for a broader base of Indian investors.
