Asus ROG Ally 2 Emerges in US FCC Listing

Asus is gearing up to unveil its second-generation handheld gaming console, the ROG Ally 2, in the near future. Recent leaks have provided insights into the device’s design and specifications, revealing that it will feature a 7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate and be powered by AMD processors. Additionally, images suggest a new design that resembles a gaming controller, hinting at an exciting evolution in handheld gaming.

Two Variants of the ROG Ally 2

A recent listing on Indonesia’s SDPPI certification website indicates that Asus plans to release two models of the ROG Ally 2. These models will be available in black (model number RC73X1) and white (model number RC73YA). The model numbers have also been confirmed through listings on the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) website. The black version features a dedicated Xbox button, while the white variant has a similar button without the Xbox logo. The purpose of the Xbox button on the black model remains uncertain, but it aligns with Microsoft’s efforts to enhance the Windows handheld gaming experience.

Powerful Specifications

The black variant of the ROG Ally 2 is expected to be equipped with an octa-core AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, boasting a power rating of 36W, along with 64GB of LPDDR5x-8533 RAM. In contrast, the white model will feature a less powerful AMD Aeirth Plus processor, rated at 20W, although details regarding its RAM capacity have not yet been disclosed. Both models will sport a 7-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, promising smooth visuals for gaming enthusiasts. While leaked images showcase the screens of both models, they are currently turned off, leaving the software experience a mystery.

Anticipation for Upcoming Announcements

Asus previously teased the launch of a next-generation ROG Ally console, hinting at several hardware upgrades. However, the company did not confirm whether this would include the Xbox-branded device. The official Xbox account responded to Asus’s teaser with a meme on social media, fueling speculation about the potential collaboration. Asus is expected to unveil new devices at Computex 2025 in Taipei, which is set to begin on May 20. The ROG Ally 2 and the Project Kennan console could be among the highlights of this event, with Microsoft potentially making announcements around the same time, making it a key date for gaming fans to watch.
