Amantya Technologies Secures Funding for 5G Development

Amantya Technologies has recently received significant funding from the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) under the Digital Bharat Nidhi initiative. This funding comes from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and is aimed at developing an indigenous 5G solution. The project, titled โ€œDevelopment of โ€˜India 5G Stackโ€™ with the Next-Gen 3GPP Release 16/17 Compliant โ€˜Made in India 5G SA Coreโ€™ for Public and Enterprise Deployment,โ€ marks a pivotal step in enhancing India’s telecommunications infrastructure.

Advancing Indiaโ€™s 5G Capabilities

The project will build upon Amantya’s existing enterprise-grade 5G Standalone (SA) Core. The goal is to create a carrier-grade solution that adheres to the latest 3GPP standards. This upgraded 5G SA Core will feature enhanced security measures, making it suitable for large-scale public and private enterprise deployments. The new core network will support advanced functionalities such as network slicing, Quality of Service (QoS), Voice over New Radio (VoNR), Ultra-Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC), and massive Machine Type Communication (mMTC).

Moreover, the solution will ensure seamless integration with existing 4G and 5G networks. It will incorporate essential features like geo-redundancy and high availability. Traffic monitoring will be facilitated through the EFK framework, and the system will allow for automatic scaling to meet varying demands. The project also includes northbound interfaces for third-party Operations Support Systems (OSS), Business Support Systems (BSS), and billing systems, ensuring compatibility with various infrastructures. This comprehensive approach aims to create a robust and flexible 5G network that can adapt to future technological advancements.

Cloud-Agnostic Deployment for Flexibility

One of the standout features of this 5G SA Core solution is its cloud-agnostic nature. This means it can be deployed across various cloud platforms, including Kubernetes, OpenStack, and OpenShift. Such flexibility allows for deployment on carrier networks, private clouds, or on-premises infrastructures. This adaptability is crucial for organizations looking to leverage 5G technology without being locked into a specific cloud provider.

The cloud-agnostic design also supports the growing trend of hybrid cloud environments. As businesses increasingly seek to optimize their operations, the ability to deploy 5G solutions across multiple platforms will be a significant advantage. This approach not only enhances operational efficiency but also reduces costs associated with network deployments. By making the solution versatile, Amantya Technologies aims to cater to a wide range of clients, from large telecommunications companies to smaller enterprises.

Government Support and Industry Impact

The funding agreement was formalized during a ceremony attended by key figures in the telecommunications sector. Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO of C-DOT, emphasized the importance of this initiative for India’s telecom ecosystem. He stated that developing a domestic 5G SA Core aligns with the โ€œAtmanirbhar Bharatโ€ vision, promoting self-reliance in technology. Dr. Parag Agarwal, DDG of TTDF, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the initiative’s role in positioning India as a global hub for 5G technology.

Anuradha Gupta, CEO of Amantya Technologies, expressed gratitude for the funding and reiterated the project’s alignment with the government’s vision. She noted that developing a carrier-grade 5G SA Core within India is a significant step toward achieving self-reliance in telecom technology. This project not only aims to enhance the country’s telecom infrastructure but also prepares India for future advancements, such as 6G technology.

Bridging the Digital Divide

The overarching goal of this project is to deliver a secure and scalable 5G solution designed for extensive deployments. By focusing on high-speed connectivity, the initiative aims to bridge the digital divide, particularly in rural and remote areas. The โ€œMade in Indiaโ€ approach will help lower costs associated with network deployments, encouraging widespread adoption of 5G technology across the country.

As India continues to advance in the telecommunications sector, projects like this will play a crucial role in ensuring that all citizens have access to high-speed internet. This initiative not only supports economic growth but also fosters innovation and development in various sectors. With the backing of the government and a commitment to self-reliance, Amantya Technologies is poised to make a significant impact on India’s digital landscape.
