Alva Myrdal (31 January 1902 – 1 February 1986) was a Swedish sociologist, diplomat, and politician. She received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1982. She was born on 31 January 1902, in Uppsala, Sweden. In 1924, she received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Stockholm. In 1929, she moved to the U.S. with her husband and studied experimental schools in the country. Between 1930 and 1931, she went to the University of Geneva in Switzerland. She earned a master’s degree in social psychology from the University of Uppsala.
