Aamir Khan Reveals Rajkumar Hirani to Unveil Final Script for 3 Idiots Sequel Soon
Aamir Khan has provided an exciting update on the highly anticipated sequel to the iconic film 3 Idiots. While attending the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF), where he was honored with the Screen Icon Award, Aamir confirmed that director Rajkumar Hirani is actively working on the script. He is expected to present the final version to Aamir in the coming weeks, generating buzz among fans of the original film.
Before sharing this news, Aamir made sure to check with Hirani about what he could disclose. He stated, “Well, I’m not allowed to say a lot. I think I can say this much, that yes, Raju is working on the script. In fact, hopefully once I’m back in the next couple of weeks, he’s going to narrate the final version to me. So, fingers crossed.”
Development Status of 3 Idiots 2
Aamir’s recent comments suggest that 3 Idiots 2 is still in the writing phase and has not yet moved into production. While he is eager to hear the final screenplay soon, there is currently no official announcement regarding the film’s shooting schedule or release date. The sequel was first mentioned in April this year, with Aamir previously sharing insights about Hirani’s progress on the project. In an interview with Amar Ujala, he remarked, “Raju is working on 3 Idiots 2 right now. I’ve heard the story, and it’s wonderful.”
He also noted that while the screenplay needs further refinement, he is optimistic about its core concept. “It’s unusual, with the same humour as the first film, and follows the characters 10 years later,” Aamir added, hinting at the evolution of the beloved characters.
Aamir Khan’s Enthusiasm for His Role
Aamir Khan has expressed his excitement about returning to the role of Phunsukh Wangdu, affectionately known as Rancho. He described the sequel as a “beautiful story” and credited Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi for their creative contributions. Aamir is looking forward to revisiting his character and exploring how the narrative unfolds a decade after the events of the original film.
The first installment of 3 Idiots, released in 2009, featured a stellar cast, including R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Boman Irani.
No Release Date Confirmed Yet
Despite Aamir’s latest update, there is still no official release date or confirmed shooting schedule for 3 Idiots 2. Earlier reports suggested that production might begin around April 2027, once Aamir completes his other commitments, but these plans have not been officially confirmed.
