IGNCA organizes one day National seminar on “Partition Horrors Remembrance Day”

On 5 August 2022, Indira Gandhi National Centre of Arts (IGNCA) organisedย a seminar on “Partition Horrors Remembrance Dayโ€ under the program of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in New Delhi.

On the occasion, the President of the Integrated Institute of Human Philosophy Research and Development, Mahesh Chandra Sharma remembered the horrors of catastrophic Partition. He also said that many lives were lost and devastated during the partition. He added that the repercussion of and trauma due to partition are felt and experienced to date.

At the Seminar Historian, Shri Krishnanand Sagar said at the exit of the British from India in August 1947, the country was partitioned into two independent states. He also added that the partition of India devasted millions of lives across the Indian subcontinent.

Partition Horrors Remembrance Day isย a yearly celebration onย 14 August.ย It aims to remember the victims and sufferings of people during theย Partition of India.

During the partition, many Indians suffered. Several families were displaced, and many people died in the partition. In order to further strengthen oneness, social harmony, and human empowerment, it aims to remove social divisions and disharmony.

On 14 August 2021, Prime Ministerย Narendra Modiย declared that the 14 of August annually will be remembered asย Partition Horrors Remembrance Day to remind the nation of the sufferings and sacrifices of Indians during the partition in 1947.
