Diwali Showdown: Akshay Kumar’s Mohra Faces Off Against Ranbir Kapoor and Yash’s Ramayana, Plus Classic Re-releases!

The trend of re-releases in Indian cinema has gained momentum in recent years, with several films making a significant impact during their second outings. In 2025, “Sanam Teri Kasam” surprised the industry by grossing over Rs. 40 crores, becoming the biggest re-release success to date. Following this trend, the classic film “Mohra” is set to return to theaters, promising to attract both nostalgic viewers and new audiences alike.

Mohra’s Re-Release Announcement

Trimurti Films Pvt Ltd, the production house behind “Mohra,” confirmed the film’s re-release through a video posted on its YouTube channel. The action entertainer will hit cinemas on November 6, coinciding with the Diwali week. This re-release will see “Mohra” clash with the highly anticipated film “Ramayana,” which features a star-studded cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi.

The remastered version of “Mohra” will be distributed by Deepinder Singh’s Rimpy Films International. The company has been actively sharing updates about the re-release on social media, hinting at plans to bring back other notable films produced by Trimurti, such as “Vidhaata” (1982), “Tridev” (1989), and “Gupt” (1994).

Screening Details and Competition

One of the cinemas set to screen “Mohra” is Heera Talkies in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Interestingly, this single-screen theater will dedicate all four daily shows to “Mohra,” opting not to screen “Ramayana” at all. This decision could significantly impact the film’s visibility during the competitive Diwali season.

In addition to “Mohra,” Rimpy Films International has also re-released “Zora,” directed by Rajiv Rai, which is currently showing at Heera Talkies. This move indicates the company’s commitment to reviving classic cinema for modern audiences.

A Look Back at Mohra

Originally released on July 1, 1994, “Mohra” featured a stellar cast, including Naseeruddin Shah, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Raveena Tandon, and Paresh Rawal. The film was a blockbuster, celebrated for its engaging storyline, powerful performances, and memorable music composed by Viju Shah.

With the film now remastered in 4K, audiences can look forward to experiencing iconic songs like “Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast” and “Tip Tip Barsa Paani” on the big screen. However, the competition from “Ramayana” raises questions about how well “Mohra” will perform in its second innings.
