Ministry of Textiles Hosts Workshops on E-Waste and Cyber Security

On October 15, 2026, the Ministry of Textiles held workshops focused on E-Waste Management Awareness and Cyber Security as part of Special Campaign 6, attracting over 85 officials, including all Nodal Officers. These sessions aimed to enhance awareness about responsible electronic waste disposal, bolster cyber security knowledge, and promote secure digital practices in the workplace.

Cyber Security Awareness Initiatives

A comprehensive Cyber Security Awareness Session was organized to educate officials and staff about emerging cyber threats. Participants learned to identify risks related to phishing attacks, malware, fraudulent WhatsApp messages, and digital scams. The session stressed the significance of recognizing suspicious emails, links, and communications that impersonate trusted contacts or request sensitive information such as money or personal details.

Officials were advised to exercise caution in their digital engagements. They were instructed to avoid clicking on unknown links or downloading unverified attachments, as well as to verify the authenticity of any suspicious communications before proceeding. The session also underscored the importance of maintaining cyber hygiene, staying vigilant, and promptly reporting any cyber incidents to protect both official and personal data.

Understanding E-Waste Management

The E-Waste Management Awareness segment made officials aware of the serious environmental hazards linked to improper disposal of electronic waste. They discussed issues such as soil and water contamination and the release of harmful substances which pose threats to human health and ecosystems. The discussion highlighted the need for reusing, refurbishing, and recycling electronics whenever possible, helping to recover valuable materials and reduce the volume of waste entering landfills.

Officials learned the importance of proper segregation, safe handling, and disposal of outdated electronic and electrical equipment in compliance with existing e-waste management regulations. The workshops also promoted sustainable office practices, reinforcing that responsible e-waste management supports environmental protection and resource conservation while advancing a circular economy.

Commitment to Sustainability and Security

Through these initiatives, the Ministry of Textiles demonstrated its commitment to fostering a cleaner workplace, ensuring responsible resource use, and nurturing a secure digital environment. By merging environmental sustainability with cyber security, the Ministry aims to enhance workplace practices, reduce resource waste, and safeguard digital information.

The Ministry has taken concrete steps to manage e-waste generated within its offices, stressing the need for responsible disposal of obsolete electronic and electrical items, including computers and office equipment. This initiative emphasizes the importance of segregating outdated equipment and disposing of it through authorized channels to prevent environmental pollution and support resource recovery.

By promoting awareness among officials and staff about sustainable office practices and proper e-waste disposal, the Ministry of Textiles advances toward a cleaner workspace and the national goal of sustainable development. These workshops serve as a reminder of the Ministry’s dedication to responsible resource management, environmental stewardship, and promoting digital safety in the workplace.
