Government Report Reveals High Grievance Redressal Rates for August 2026

The Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) has unveiled the monthly report for August 2026, highlighting the effective management of public grievances by Central Ministries and Departments. In a notable achievement, a total of 2,42,391 grievances were resolved, reflecting a strong commitment to improving public satisfaction with government services.

According to the report, the average time taken to address grievances in 2026 stands at just 13 days, demonstrating significant progress in the grievance disposal process. This report marks the 52nd publication focusing on the performance of various ministries and departments under the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), which is geared towards enhancing service delivery through systematic reforms.

New User Registrations Surge

CPGRAMS also saw a surge in new registrations, with 1,38,801 users signing up in August alone. The states contributing the most users include West Bengal with 42,054 registrations, Uttar Pradesh with 17,202, and Maharashtra with 10,616. The growth in user engagement indicates a rising public awareness of the grievance redressal system and its accessibility through various platforms.

Integration with Common Service Centres

The system has been further enhanced by its integration with over 5 lakh Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the country, making it easier for citizens to file grievances. In August, these centres registered 8,999 grievances, showcasing the initiative’s reach at the grassroots level, supported by approximately 2.5 lakh Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs).

Review Mechanisms in Place

Since the introduction of the Review Meeting Module on August 14, 2025, significant improvements have been noted. This module enables Secretary-level reviews, increasing the effectiveness of grievance resolution processes. By the end of August 2026, 424 review meetings had been conducted, with 21 occurring specifically during that month.

Grievance Handling Performance Statistics

In terms of performance metrics, the report details that 2,51,147 public grievances were received through the CPGRAMS portal in August, with a current backlog of 93,864 grievances. Notably, 44% of these grievances were aimed at critical departments, such as Rural Development, Labour and Employment, and Financial Services.

For appeals, the report states that August 2026 saw 24,085 appeals filed and 24,611 resolved, although 16,693 remained pending by month’s end. This reveals a dynamic yet challenging environment in managing public feedback.

Top Performers in Grievance Redressal

According to the Grievance Redressal Assessment and Index (GRAI) for August, departments such as Posts, Telecommunications, and Financial Services (Insurance) emerged as top performers in their category, while ministries including Steel, Shipping, and Development of North Eastern Region also excelled in managing fewer grievances.
