Brics 2026: Piyush Goyal Celebrates Unanimous Approval of New Delhi Declaration
Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has welcomed the unanimous adoption of the New Delhi Declaration at the 18th BRICS Summit. He stated that the declaration reflects the collective resolve of member countries to foster a more resilient, innovative, and equitable partnership. Goyal emphasized that the BRICS grouping has expanded its scope and purpose, amplifying the voice of the Global South.
In a post on X, Goyal outlined that the declaration promotes deeper cooperation in emerging technologies, digital infrastructure, startups, science, and research. He congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BRICS leaders on this achievement, noting that the declaration signifies a commitment to advancing development-focused initiatives.
The New Delhi Declaration includes provisions for enhanced collaboration on artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, and Digital Public Infrastructure. It also aims to strengthen the New Development Bank and improve coordination on food, health, and energy security, as well as resilient supply chains. The declaration was adopted by BRICS leaders during the summit held in New Delhi.
Additionally, the declaration emphasizes the importance of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in promoting socio-economic development and accelerating digital transformation. BRICS leaders reaffirmed their commitment to principles such as mutual respect, sovereign equality, and inclusiveness, aiming to strengthen the strategic partnership for the benefit of their populations.
