Adani Airports Secures $1 Billion in Primary Equity from Leading Global Investors

India’s largest private airport operator, Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL), has secured binding agreements to raise ₹9,825 crore (approximately $1 billion) in primary equity capital. The funding comes from a consortium of investors, including Alpha Wave Global, Premji Invest, Temasek, and BlackRock managed funds. This transaction values AAHL at a pre-money equity valuation of around $18 billion, marking one of the largest primary equity investments in India’s airport infrastructure sector.
Investment Details
The proceeds from this investment will be directed towards three strategic priorities. AAHL plans to expand and modernize airport infrastructure across its portfolio, accelerate the development of integrated Adani airport city ecosystems, and scale its passenger-facing and non-aeronautical businesses, including ground handling services. The company operates eight airports in India—Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Mangaluru, and Thiruvananthapuram—accounting for over 23% of the country’s total passenger traffic.
AAHL aims to increase its capacity to serve 20 crore passengers annually, enhance commercial monetization, and improve passenger experience. Jeet Adani, non-executive director of AAHL, emphasized the significance of this partnership in building the Adani Airports platform, highlighting the aviation sector’s role as a catalyst for GDP growth in India.
