Nora Fatehi Faces Rs 3 Crore Lawsuit from Aviation Firm Over “Toy” and “Lego Airplane” Remarks

Actress Nora Fatehi is facing a legal challenge after Dunes Aviation filed a civil defamation suit against her for Rs 3 crores at a Gandhinagar court. The aviation company claims that Fatehi made damaging comments about one of its chartered aircraft on social media. The controversy stems from videos she shared during a Mumbai-Jaipur flight in December last year, where she allegedly referred to the aircraft in derogatory terms.

Allegations of Derogatory Remarks

According to a report by PTI, Dunes Aviation has accused Nora Fatehi of making “derogatory and reckless” remarks in her social media posts. The company claims that she described the aircraft as a “miniature,” a “toy,” and a “Lego airplane.” These comments were made in videos posted on her Instagram account, which has a substantial following.

The legal matter is set to be heard by senior civil judge R Agarwal on September 25. Dunes Aviation argues that Fatehi’s remarks reached a wide audience due to her popularity, which they estimate at over 4.6 crores followers. The company contends that her statements have led to significant reputational and commercial damage, including a reported 15 to 20 percent drop in bookings and an increase in cancellations.

Impact on Business

Dunes Aviation claims that the fallout from Nora Fatehi’s comments has had a detrimental effect on its business operations. The company alleges that the actress’s posts have caused serious reputational damage, loss of goodwill, and an adverse commercial impact. They describe her comments as “reckless, irresponsible, and made without any technical knowledge, verification or factual basis.”

The aviation firm emphasizes that the Cessna Citation CJ2 used for the Mumbai-Jaipur journey was a standard aircraft, appropriately sized for the flight. They assert that the aircraft was fully DGCA-certified and airworthy, operating legally under a valid Non-Scheduled Operator’s Permit (NSOP).

Legal Demands from Dunes Aviation

In addition to seeking Rs 3 crores in damages, Dunes Aviation has requested that the court order Nora Fatehi to remove her social media posts and any other online content that contains the alleged remarks or references to the aircraft. Furthermore, the company is asking for a public clarification from the actress regarding her comments.
