One of India’s most beloved streaming series, Asur, is gearing up for its third season. Bollywood Hungama has exclusively reported that filming for Asur Season 3 has officially begun in Mumbai, with production expected to conclude by December 2026. Fans of the series can look forward to a continuation of the gripping narrative that has captivated audiences since its debut.
Returning Cast and New Additions
Arshad Warsi and Barun Sobti will reprise their roles as forensic experts Dhananjay Rajput and Nikhil Nair, respectively. They are joined by Ridhi Dogra, Anupriya Goenka, and Vishesh Bansal, all returning to their fan-favourite characters. The new season will also introduce fresh faces, including Ahsaas Channa and Shweta Basu Prasad, who will play pivotal roles in the unfolding drama.
The shooting commenced on August 30 in Mumbai, with plans to film in various cities over the next three months. The makers are targeting a mid-2027 premiere on JioHotstar, promising an exciting return for fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter.
Creative Changes for Season 3
A significant shift in Asur Season 3 comes with the change in its directorial team. Oni Sen, who directed the first two seasons and recently worked on Netflix India’s Operation Safed Sagar, will not return as director. Instead, Gaurav Shukla, the show’s creator and lead writer, has taken over the directorial duties.
Shukla, known for his writing on projects like Angrezi Medium, The Girl on the Train, and Saare Jahan Se Accha, will make his directorial debut with this season. He will co-direct alongside Shwetabh Varma, an ad filmmaker recognized for his stylish campaigns for brands such as JK Cement WallMaxX, Domino’s, and Yamaha.
Expanding the Franchise
Asur Season 3 comes nearly three years after the second season premiered in 2023, receiving widespread acclaim and becoming one of the most-watched Indian series of the year. Gaurav Shukla has been developing the new season, crafting a story that aims to expand the franchise in both scale and narrative ambition.

Asur follows a team of forensic experts engaged in a deadly cat-and-mouse game with a serial killer who believes himself to be an incarnation of the mythological demon Kali.
