Annu Supriya: A Beacon of Hope in Higher Education

Higher education opens doors to brighter futures, yet numerous young students face financial hurdles that can block their paths. For 19-year-old Annu Supriya, her dream of studying B.Tech at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur seemed distant due to her family’s financial struggles. Raised by a single mother who works as a daily wage labourer, Annu confronted significant challenges in affording the costs associated with higher education.

As an OBC/Teli student in her first year of B.Tech, Annu’s journey was fraught with obstacles. Without financial resources to attend an offline coaching institute, preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) was a daunting task. Moreover, lacking prior knowledge about engineering entrance exams in her family, she became aware of the JEE process late in her education.

Nevertheless, Annu’s determination propelled her forward, ultimately leading her to secure admission at NIT Raipur, marking a pivotal step towards a successful career in the technology sector.

Transforming Lives Through Financial Support

In 2025, Annu received ₹1,29,100 through the Top-Class Education Scheme, which alleviated the financial burdens on her family. This scholarship not only made her educational journey feasible but also furnished her with a renewed sense of confidence, allowing her to concentrate on her studies and career ambitions.

Reflecting on the scholarship’s impact, Annu shared, “The Top-Class Education Scheme has played a significant role in my educational journey. The scholarship support has reduced the financial stress on my family and enabled me to continue my education at a premier institution. It has motivated me to work harder towards achieving my career goals and building a better future.”

In addition to her academic pursuits, Annu is enhancing her technical and personal skills. She is currently learning C and C++ programming languages, delving into software development, and studying Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA). Beyond academics, Annu engages in extracurricular activities like calisthenics and drawing, which contribute to her overall development.

Annu envisions a future where she can establish a successful career in the technology sector, leveraging her skills to positively impact society. She also aims to prepare for competitive examinations to achieve higher goals in computer science.

Annu Supriya’s story embodies the transformative power of targeted educational support. Initiatives like the Top-Class Education Scheme are instrumental in dismantling financial barriers, empowering deserving students to attain their educational aspirations and cultivate a brighter future.
