Atal Innovation Mission Hosts Regional AIM SUMVAAD in Mohali

The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under NITI Aayog successfully held the Regional AIM SUMVAAD for the North Edition in Mohali, uniting pivotal figures from government, industry, academia, startups, and incubators. This significant gathering aimed to enhance collaboration between state and central governments while establishing a robust network of incubators across the region.

With the vital goal of fostering inclusive entrepreneurship and accelerating innovation, the event encouraged stronger partnerships among various stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem. The representatives from the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi, alongside representatives from startup councils, incubators, industry leaders, CSR partners, and other ecosystem enablers, engaged in crucial discussions.

Strengthening Innovations and Partnerships

The AIM SUMVAAD included key deliberations aimed at fortifying incubation ecosystems, scaling state-led innovative initiatives, and enhancing cooperation between the government, academia, incubators, and industry players. Sessions were designed to unlock opportunities in emerging sectors and promote economic growth driven by innovation.

S. Satnam Singh Sandhu, a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha and Chairman of CGC Landran, praised the AIM’s role in fostering collaborative innovation platforms, emphasizing their impact in bolstering India’s innovation-led growth. He remarked on the shared entrepreneurial spirit between Punjab and J&K and expressed optimism that this collaboration would unlock new opportunities for startups, youth, and the industry.

Key Insights from the Conclave

Deepak Bagla, Mission Director for Atal Innovation Mission, emphasized the importance of incubators as foundational elements of a flourishing startup ecosystem. He noted that through events like AIM SUMVAAD, the mission is committed to enhancing incubators with better infrastructure and support systems, ultimately empowering young entrepreneurs across the nation.

Deepika Rana Khatri, Director General (Industries) of Himachal Pradesh, stressed the need for better coordination between states and the alignment with central initiatives to boost the efficiency and success rates of startups and incubation systems. Additionally, a special session led by Dr. Aashish Chaudhry highlighted the increasing significance of hospital-based incubation systems in advancing medical innovation.

A standout moment at the summit was the introduction of the Punjab & Jammu and Kashmir Incubation Consortium (PI-RAHI), designed to enhance regional partnerships and create new avenues for startups and other stakeholders. The Regional AIM SUMVAAD served as a dynamic platform for knowledge sharing, strategic collaboration, and fruitful policy discussions, reinforcing AIM’s commitment to nurturing innovation-led development across India.
