New Healthcare Facilities Open at Cantonment General Hospital
On April 23, 2026, Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh inaugurated advanced healthcare facilities at the Cantonment General Hospital in Delhi Cantt. The new additions include a cutting-edge Robotic Orthopaedic System and a dedicated Maternity Operation Theatre, aimed at enhancing medical services for residents in the Cantonment and nearby municipal areas.
Modernizing Healthcare Infrastructure
During the inauguration event, which was attended by Director General of Defence Estates, Smt. Shobha Gupta, and other distinguished guests, the Defence Secretary stressed the importance of upgrading healthcare infrastructure within Cantonments. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing high-quality medical services to local communities.
Robotic Orthopaedic System Launch
The newly introduced Robotic Orthopaedic System is a significant technological advancement. This state-of-the-art system enables precision in surgical procedures, aiming for shorter recovery times and improved patient outcomes. The addition of this system is expected to enhance the hospital’s ability to handle complex orthopaedic cases with unmatched accuracy and efficiency.
Maternity Operation Theatre for Safe Deliveries
Alongside the robotic system, the Maternity Operation Theatre has been designed to ensure safe surgical care for expectant mothers. This facility aims to provide comprehensive and secure medical attention to women during childbirth, highlighting the hospital’s focus on maternal health.
Future Upgrades Planned for the Hospital
During the event, a brief presentation showcased upcoming enhancements at the Cantonment General Hospital. In the next three months, improvements will include a new Dialysis Centre, upgrades to the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), ICU enhancements, and an expanded laboratory. Furthermore, within the year, the hospital intends to introduce a Paediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, CT Scan, MRI, Cancer Screening Unit, High Dependency Unit, Multispecialty Ward, and a Surgical ICU, significantly broadening the healthcare services available.
