Celebrating Health and Legacy: 25th Open Saurashtra Half Marathon in Mithapur
Tata Chemicals Limited successfully hosted the Shri R Prabhakar Memorial 25th Open Saurashtra Half Marathon in Mithapur on January 4, 2026. This much-anticipated annual marathon not only promoted fitness among the local community but also paid homage to the legacy of the late Shri R. Prabhakar. The event attracted a remarkable turnout, featuring competitors from various age groups and backgrounds.
Record Participation and Celebration
The marathon kicked off at 6:00 AM, welcoming a total of 519 participants—a record high for this event. Of these, 114 runners competed in the Half Marathon (21.1 km), while 405 individuals participated in the 10 km run. Among the participants, 190 were employees of Tata Chemicals, exemplifying the company’s commitment to health and wellness.
Each runner was honored with a medal and a digital certificate reflecting their completion time, celebrating their achievements and fostering a sense of community pride. The spirit of resilience and collective well-being shone brightly throughout the event, highlighting the values embodied by Tata Chemicals.
Champions of the Run
In an impressive display of athleticism, Pravin Kashyap claimed victory in the Half Marathon, finishing with an outstanding time of 1:19:34. Rajesh Nakum was a close second, completing the race in 1:29:07. Among the employees, Paresh Giri Gosai and Jagdish Sinh Vadher took the top spots with impressive times of 1:42:35 and 1:42:37, respectively.
In the Women’s Half Marathon category, Sangita Kambad reached the finish line first, clocking in at 2:17:18, followed by Pratibha Bhagavanappa with a time of 2:23:12. For the 10K run, Laxmiben Hathiya triumphed with a swift time of 1:13:18, while Priti Limbasiya secured the runner-up title in 1:17:26.
For the Senior Citizen category, Navin Bhai Khodiyar and Jagdish Ramnani completed the Half Marathon in 2:49:36 and 3:00:31, respectively, showcasing their determination and commitment to staying active. Additionally, Kalpana Pandya finished the 10K in a commendable time of 1:46:07.
Since its inception in 1995, the Saurashtra Half Marathon has evolved into a cornerstone event that promotes community spirit and healthier lifestyles. Beyond being merely a sporting activity, this marathon reflects Tata Chemicals’ unwavering commitment to fostering a sense of unity and connection among the residents of Mithapur.
