Maharashtra Sets Sights on Complete 4G Connectivity, Boosts Digital Network

India’s efforts to enhance digital connectivity are making significant strides in Maharashtra, as Union Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, announced today. In his response to a parliamentary question, Scindia revealed that the state is steadily progressing toward achieving 100% saturation of 4G services. A total of approximately 164,000 4G and 40,000 5G Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) have already been established, greatly improving telecommunications in both urban and rural locales.

Expanding Digital Infrastructure

Highlighting the efforts in the Konkan region, the Union Minister noted that there has been extensive deployment of 4G and 5G networks across several districts. For instance, Palghar district has seen the installation of 5,463 4G and 1,609 5G BTS, while Thane boasts 6,710 4G and 1,989 5G BTS. Moreover, Raigad has 2,940 4G stations paired with 791 5G stations, and Ratnagiri is equipped with 2,292 4G and 465 5G BTS. Lastly, Sindhudurg has 975 4G and 256 5G BTS installed.

Commitment to Digital Empowerment

Scindia emphasized that these developments are in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a Digital India. The government is dedicated to ensuring that every citizen has access to fast, reliable digital connectivity. As the expansion of the 5G network continues, the goal is to elevate digital empowerment not just in Maharashtra, but across the entire nation.

This commitment is expected to bridge the digital divide, enhance access to information and services, and empower citizens by providing seamless connectivity, crucial for both personal and professional growth in the modern age. With this progress, Maharashtra is set to position itself as a leader in digital infrastructure within India.
