Indian Air Force Cadets Celebrate Success at Combined Graduation Parade
The Indian Air Force Academy (AFA) in Dundigal, Hyderabad, was filled with pride and celebration as it hosted the Combined Graduation Parade (CGP) on December 13, 2025. This event marked the successful completion of pre-commissioning training for the Flight Cadets from both the Flying and Ground Duty branches of the Indian Air Force (IAF). A total of 244 cadets, including 215 men and 29 women, were awarded commissions during this momentous occasion, with General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), serving as the Reviewing Officer (RO).
General Chauhan was warmly welcomed by Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Training Command, and Air Marshal PK Vohra, Commandant of the AFA. The parade commenced with a formal General Salute, followed by a detailed and impressive march past by the graduating Flight Cadets.
Wings Awarded to Distinguished Trainees
In a notable highlight of the ceremony, not only officers from the Indian Air Force were recognized, but colleagues from the Indian Navy and Coast Guard were also honored. Six officers from the Indian Navy and eight from the Indian Coast Guard, along with two trainees from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, received their ‘Wings’ for successfully completing their flying training. Additionally, five officers were awarded ‘Brevets’ for their accomplishments in Navigation training. The event saw proud family members in attendance, celebrating the achievements of their loved ones.
Commissioning Ceremony Inspires New Officers
The crux of the parade was the touching ‘Commissioning Ceremony’ where the RO conferred the title of Flying Officer to the graduating cadets. As they took an oath to protect the sovereignty and honor of India, they were met with a synchronized flypast by Pilatus PC-7, Hawk, Kiran, and Chetak aircraft, captivating onlookers. Additional performances by the Akash Ganga team and the Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT) added excitement to the event.
Awards Recognize Exceptional Cadet Performance
During the parade, outstanding performance was acknowledged. Flying Officer Tanishq Aggarwal from the Flying branch received the prestigious ‘President’s Plaque’ and the ‘Nawanagar Sword of Honour’ for being top of his Pilot Course. Similarly, Flying Officer Saksham Dobriyal earned the ‘President’s Plaque’ for leading in the Navigation stream, while Flying Officer Nitesh Kumar was recognized for excelling in the Ground Duty branches.

In his address, General Chauhan praised the newly commissioned officers for their impeccable presentation and adherence to parade standards. He congratulated them for embarking on their careers in service to the nation, urging them to uphold humility and strong principles in their endeavors. He emphasized the importance of innovation and technology in modern warfare, advocating for the integration of artificial intelligence and automated systems to ensure success on future battlefields.
As the ceremony drew to a close, the newly commissioned officers marched proudly to the sound of martial tunes, culminating in a memorable flyover by Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, leading a formation of three Kiran aircraft. The grand finale featured a stunning aerial display by the Sarang helicopter team and the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT), leaving everyone in attendance filled with inspiration and pride.
