India Showcases Scientific Advancements to Global Media Delegation
The Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Government of India recently hosted an engaging session with over 40 journalists from foreign media, representing regions including Central Asia, Europe, and North America. This delegation, part of a familiarization tour organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), visited India from December 9 to 18, 2025. The primary goal of this interaction was to spotlight India’s remarkable growth and its emerging role as a leader in Science, Technology, and Innovation on the global stage.
During the session, Secretary of the DST, Prof. Abhay Karandikar, presented an overview of India’s evolving science and technology landscape, major national missions, and the country’s ambitious vision for _Viksit Bharat @2047_. Prof. Karandikar described India’s integrated, mission-driven approach to science and technology as a “whole-of-government engine” that is catalyzing the nation’s innovation-led growth.
India’s science and technology ecosystem is in the midst of a historic transformation, marked by mission-oriented programs, robust research foundations, and increasing global collaborations. This transformation positions India as a frontrunner in innovation readiness for the future.
The meeting included an open discussion facilitated by DST’s leadership, focusing on India’s advancements in modern technologies such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. The dialogue also addressed India’s initiatives to encourage Indian researchers to return to the country, contributing to its scientific community.
