Scene 1: Divine Confrontation and Punishment
Shanidev arrived at Kailash and respectfully greeted Mahadev upon completing his period of meditation and reflection. “I have finished my spiritual contemplation and reached important conclusions about recent events,” he announced to the supreme deity. Mahadev was curious about the decisions that had emerged from this meditation period. “What judgment have you reached after considering all the circumstances?” he inquired. Shanidev delivered his verdict with the authority of cosmic justice. “You treated Kartikeya and Devsena wrongly, and this injustice requires consequences,” he declared firmly. “As the enforcer of cosmic law, it is my duty to punish those who commit adharm, regardless of their status or position.”
He explained his role in maintaining universal balance. “I am responsible for eliminating unrighteousness wherever I find it, even when it involves the most powerful beings in existence.” Mahadev acknowledged Shanidev’s responsibility and gave him permission to proceed. “You have your duties to fulfill, so do what you believe is necessary,” he replied calmly. Shanidev raised his divine weapon and launched an attack against Mahadev, intending to deliver the punishment he deemed appropriate. However, Mahadev skillfully defended himself using his powerful trishul, deflecting Shanidev’s assault and causing him to fall to the ground.
Seeing Shanidev on the ground, Mahadev’s anger flared, and he called out his name with fury. “Shanidev!” he roared as he prepared his own counterattack. He raised his trishul and moved to strike Shanidev in retaliation for the unprovoked assault. Realizing he had crossed a line, Shanidev immediately offered his surrender and apology. “I apologize for my actions and accept complete defeat,” he said humbly. “I acknowledge that I was wrong to attack you directly.” Mahadev explained the distinction between justice and aggression that Shanidev had failed to understand. “If you had come here to punish me for legitimate wrongdoing, I would have accepted your judgment,” he said. “But instead, you came with the intention of attacking me, which is entirely different from dispensing justice.”
Shanidev acknowledged his error and requested appropriate consequences. “Please punish me for my inappropriate behavior,” he requested. “I deserve to face penalties for my actions.” Mahadev decided on a fitting punishment and suspended Shanidev upside down as a consequence of his misconduct. While in this humbling position, Shanidev made a request for spiritual comfort. “Please play your damru so I can meditate and reflect properly on my mistakes,” he asked. Mahadev granted this request and began playing his divine drum, while Shanidev closed his eyes and entered a meditative state to contemplate his actions.
Scene 2: Garden Intrusion and Emotional Appeals
On the other side of Kailash, Devi Parvati was peacefully plucking flowers in her garden when she was suddenly confronted by a group of hostile asuras. “We have come here to arrest you,” they announced boldly to the divine mother. “You must come with us immediately.” Devi Parvati was astounded by their audacity and responded with righteous anger. “Are you complete fools to think you can arrest me?” she demanded. “How dare you come to my sacred domain with such ridiculous demands?” Before the situation could escalate further, Raavan appeared and immediately attacked the asuras who had dared to threaten Devi Parvati.
After driving them away, he turned to offer his sincere apologies. “I am deeply sorry for the behavior of these asuras,” he said respectfully. “While they are my people, they came here without my knowledge or permission.” However, Devi Parvati was not convinced by his explanation and refused to believe his claims of innocence. “You expect me to believe this was all a coincidence?” she questioned skeptically. Raavan decided to open his heart and share his personal pain to gain her sympathy. “My own mother, Kaikasi, has abandoned and left me,” he revealed sadly. “I was the only one who did not receive a boon on Bhairav Ashtami day, despite my devotion and efforts.” He tried to explain his current emotional state. “I hope you can understand why I am acting desperately and why you might have reasons to suspect my motives,” he continued.
“But I want you to know that I consider you to be my spiritual mother as well.” He made a humble request for divine intervention. “Please give me an opportunity to seek forgiveness from Mahadev,” he pleaded. “I need a chance to make amends for my past actions.” Devi Parvati pointed out that no one was preventing him from seeking this forgiveness. “You can go and apologize to Mahadev directly,” she told him. “No one has stopped you from approaching him with your regrets.” However, Raavan believed that mere words would not be sufficient. “Actions speak louder than words,” he replied. “I need to demonstrate my sincerity through meaningful deeds rather than empty apologies.”
Devi Parvati saw through his emotional manipulation and called him out directly. “I know very well that you sent those asuras here deliberately,” she accused him. “You are speaking emotionally now only to impress me and gain my trust.” Despite her accusations, Raavan continued his appeal. “I genuinely want you to accept me as your devoted follower,” he insisted. “I have learned that you want to build a new home, and I would like the opportunity to help you with this important project.”
Scene 3: Golden Proposals and Divine Acceptance
Devi Parvati became curious about Raavan’s specific intentions and asked him to explain his proposal. “What exactly is your plan for helping with the construction?” she inquired. Raavan revealed his ambitious vision for the divine dwelling. “I want to build Shiv’s home entirely with gold,” he announced. “This would be a structure worthy of the supreme deity’s magnificence.” Devi Parvati immediately pointed out the contradiction in his approach. “Shiv is a vairagi, someone who has renounced material possessions,” she reminded him. “Yet you want to build his home with the most precious and materialistic metal available.” Raavan cleverly countered her objection with his own observation about divine behavior.
“You yourself wear beautiful ornaments and jewelry, even though you are Shiv’s Shakti and share his spiritual nature,” he pointed out logically. “If it is acceptable for you to adorn yourself with precious items, then what is wrong with building Shiv’s home with gold?” He then explained his hope for the outcome of this generous gesture. “Perhaps Mahadev will find it in his heart to forgive me when he learns about the help and devotion I have shown,” he suggested. “This golden home could be the demonstration of my sincere repentance.”
Devi Parvati questioned his assumption about Mahadev’s current feelings toward him. “Who told you that Mahadev is angry with you?” she asked. “Have you received some indication of his displeasure?” Raavan shared his perception of the divine relationship. “Mahadev has not expressed his anger openly,” he admitted. “But I can sense that he has not forgiven me for my past actions, and I live with that knowledge every day.” As a gesture of respect and devotion, he offered flowers he had brought for her. “Please accept these flowers as a token of my sincere intentions,” he requested.
“I want to assure you that my goal was never to separate or harm the Shiv family in any way.” After considering his words and observing his apparent sincerity, Devi Parvati decided to accept the flowers he had offered. “I will take these flowers,” she said, before departing from the garden area to continue with her daily activities.
Scene 4: Suspicious Scents and Burning Models
Some time later, Devi Parvati brought the flowers that Raavan had given her into Kailash and placed them in an appropriate location. However, Mahadev immediately detected something troubling about their presence. “A foul stench has entered Kailash from outside,” he observed with displeasure. “Something impure has been brought into our sacred space.” This comment suggested that he could sense the negative energy or dubious intentions associated with Raavan’s gift, even without knowing its specific source. Later, Devi Parvati met with Vishwakarma to show him the detailed architectural model of the new home she wanted him to construct.
“This is my vision for our new dwelling,” she explained, displaying the carefully planned design. “I believe that when Kartikeya sees this beautiful new home, he will be motivated to return to live with us again.” She was filled with hope that this grand gesture would heal the family rift and bring her son back to Kailash. Excited to share this positive development with her husband, Devi Parvati went to find Mahadev and show him the architectural model. When she arrived, she discovered Shanidev still hanging upside down as punishment for his earlier transgression. As she approached with the model in her hands, Shanidev opened his eyes and looked directly at the miniature home design. In that moment of divine observation, something catastrophic occurred.
The architectural model spontaneously burst into flames, completely destroying Devi Parvati’s carefully planned design for their new home. This unexpected burning of the model served as an ominous sign that suggested dark forces were working against the family’s attempts to rebuild their unity and happiness.
