Google Unveils Gemini Live Features at MWC 2025

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Google has introduced two innovative features for its Gemini Live platform. The tech giant will soon roll out Live Video and screen-sharing capabilities to paid subscribers, enhancing user interaction with its AI chatbot. These features aim to facilitate real-time communication and provide users with a more immersive experience.

Interactive Demonstrations at MWC 2025

During MWC 2025, Google is hosting interactive demonstrations to showcase the new Gemini features. Attendees can explore not only the Live Video and screen-sharing functionalities but also other capabilities of Gemini Live, including the Circle to Search language translation feature. This event highlights Google’s commitment to advancing AI technology and enhancing user engagement through innovative tools.

Live Video: A Real-Time AI Experience

The first of the new features, Live Video, was initially revealed at Google I/O 2024 and is part of Project Astra, developed by DeepMind, Google’s AI division. This feature allows users to engage in video conversations while interacting with the AI in real-time. Users can show Gemini a live video feed from their device’s camera, enabling the AI to process visual information and respond to queries based on what it sees.

For instance, in a demonstration video shared on YouTube, a user presents their pottery collection to Gemini and asks for color suggestions for a new vase. The AI quickly analyzes the colors of the existing pots and suggests a complementary option. Once the feature is available, users will notice a new video icon in the Gemini Live interface, making it easy to access this functionality.

Screen-Sharing: Enhanced Interaction with AI

The second feature, screen-sharing with Gemini, builds on the existing capabilities of the AI assistant. Currently, users can capture a screenshot using the โ€œAsk about screenโ€ button, allowing them to query the AI about the image. The new โ€œShare screen with Liveโ€ button takes this a step further by enabling users to share their entire screen with Gemini.

When activated, this feature allows the AI to record the screen in real-time, responding to user queries as they navigate through different applications or web pages. This capability not only helps users find specific settings or information but also enhances the overall interaction with the AI, making it a versatile tool for various tasks. Google has confirmed that both features will be available to Gemini Advanced subscribers by the end of March, specifically for Android devices.
