Youth to Shape India’s Sports Future on National Sports Day 2026

In a bold move to engage the nation’s youth, the Khelo India Dialogue – Khel Ki Baat, Pradhan Mantri Modi Ke Saath initiative will take place on August 27, 2026. This exciting event aims to connect young talent, athletes, and educational institutions at over 1,500 locations across India, celebrating National Sports Day in a unique way.

This initiative aims to provide a dedicated platform for budding athletes to voice their ideas and innovations concerning the future of India’s sports landscape. Prestigious institutions such as IITs, IIMs, NITs, AIIMS, and top medical colleges will participate, ensuring a wide-ranging representation of youth voices.

Highlighting the program will be a virtual address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following his speech, physical activities will kick off at each of the participating locations, fostering a sense of community and collaboration among the youth.

Empowering Youth Voices

The primary goal of the Khelo India Dialogue is to forge a strong link between the aspirations of young athletes and the policymaking process. Participants will explore four critical themes: enhancing the sports ecosystem and grassroots facilities, preparing talent for the 2036 Olympics through scientific identification and athlete development, boosting youth leadership in governance, and cultivating future-ready skills among young individuals.

Engaging with Champions

A standout feature of the event will be the opportunity for youth to interact with India’s top sportspersons. Athletes such as Deepa Karmakar, Saina Nehwal, Gagan Narang, and legendary figures like Mary Kom and P.T. Usha will share their personal experiences and challenges faced in their journeys. This direct interaction aims to inspire and motivate participants as they learn from the lives of successful athletes.

Involving Decision Makers

Beyond just athletes, the initiative encourages participation from Members of Parliament, state legislators, and Union Ministers. These leaders will actively engage with youth, listening to their perspectives and suggestions on the identified themes, emphasizing a collaborative approach to youth empowerment.

Ongoing Engagement

The initiative will also feature the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue Quiz, further encouraging young people to register on the MY Bharat Portal. This platform aims to maintain engagement with youth long after the event concludes.

Khelo India Dialogue – Khel Ki Baat, Pradhan Mantri Modi Ke Saath is more than just a celebration; it’s a step towards shaping the future of India’s sports and youth development through the voices of its young people. By merging aspirations, experiences, and policy input, this initiative stands as a beacon for a transformative sporting culture in India.
