Women-Led Development Essential to take the Nation Forward: PM at Independence Day Speech
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, speaking today from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day, stressed the importance of women-led development and how vital it is to move the country forward. The prime minister recalled that India can now proudly claim to have the maximum number of female pilots in the civil aviation sector. Female scientists also lead the Chandrayaan Mission, the prime minister added.
The Prime Minister said that she brought up the issue of women-led development at the G20 and that G20 countries have accepted it and are recognizing its importance.
Talking about ‘Nari Sammann’, the PM shared an experience from one of his overseas visits, where a top minister of that nation asked him if women in India study science and engineering. The Prime Minister said he had responded that girls outnumber boys in our country today in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) research and that the world today is looking to our ability.
The only thing that will move the country forward is women-led development. Today we can proudly state that India has the maximum number of pilots in civil aviation.
