UPSC Announces 2025 Section Officers’ Exam Results

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the category-wise results of the Combined Section Officers’ (Grade ‘B’) Limited Departmental Competitive Examination held in December 2025. Following the evaluation of service records in June 2026, UPSC has identified and recommended candidates based on merit for various services for the year 2025.

According to the results, candidates have been selected for the following services: the Section Officers’ Grade of the Central Secretariat Service, Railway Board Secretariat Service, Intelligence Bureau, Armed Forces Headquarters Civil Service, and the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation.

Vacancies and Recommendations

The examination reported a total of 283 vacancies across multiple categories, with the distribution as follows:

  • Central Secretariat Service: 231 for the General category, with 228 candidates recommended, alongside 31 for SC and 21 for ST candidates, all of whom were recommended.
  • Railway Board Secretariat Service: 19 in the General category with 17 candidates recommended, plus 2 SC and 1 ST candidate.
  • Intelligence Bureau: 57 positions available, where 54 candidates were recommended.
  • Armed Forces Headquarters Civil Service: 8 vacancies reported, with all candidates being recommended.
  • Employees’ State Insurance Corporation: Of the 29 total vacancies, 27 candidates were recommended.

Some results of 17 candidates from various categories have been kept in a sealed cover, pending further review. The final selection will depend on additional guidelines issued by the Department of Personnel & Training and will be influenced by ongoing legal proceedings regarding seniority lists.

Provisional Results and Legal Challenges

Particularly for the Railway Board Secretariat Service, the results shall be interim due to existing challenges faced by the seniority list of Assistant Section Officers. The outcome of these legal matters could affect the selection results.
