Union Minister of State Shri Shripad Yesso Naik to visit Banka

Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy and Power, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, is set to visit Banka, Bihar, from January 24 to 26, 2025. This three-day visit aims to review the progress made in Banka District under the Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP). Banka is one of 13 districts in Bihar and 112 districts across India selected for this initiative. The ADP focuses on improving the living standards of citizens in underdeveloped areas by enhancing various key sectors.

Objectives of the Visit

The primary goal of Minister Naik’s visit is to assess the implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes in Banka. He will evaluate the effectiveness of these schemes at the ground level. The visit will include field inspections of various facilities, including an Anganwadi Centre, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Community Health Centre (CHC), Government High School, Health and Wellness Centre (HWC), Digital Library, Computer Training Centre, Unnati Gram, and a Fish Farming Centre.

Additionally, the Minister plans to meet with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to understand their experiences. This hands-on approach will allow him to gather insights directly from the community. Following these field visits, a review meeting will be held to discuss the significant progress made in Banka over the past five years. This meeting will cover various Key Performance Indicators in health, nutrition, education, agriculture, water resources, financial inclusion, skill development, and basic infrastructure.

Engaging with the Community

During his visit, Minister Naik will also engage with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the general public. An “Open Hour” has been scheduled for the first day of his visit, allowing citizens to meet him at the Circuit House. This session will take place from 6 to 7 PM on January 24. On the second day, another opportunity for public interaction will be available from 8 to 9 AM. These sessions aim to foster communication between the government and the community, ensuring that citizens’ voices are heard.

The Minister’s interactions with the public and NGOs will provide valuable feedback on the implementation of various government schemes. This engagement is crucial for understanding the challenges faced by the community and for identifying areas that require further attention.

Celebrating Progress and Future Goals

On the final day of his visit, Minister Naik will attend the Republic Day celebrations at RMK Ground in Banka. This event will not only mark the national holiday but also serve as a platform to highlight the achievements of the district under the Aspirational Districts Programme.

The ADP, launched in 2018 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s leadership, aims to accelerate development in 112 backward districts across India. The program focuses on 81 development indicators across five critical themes: health and nutrition, education, agriculture and water resources, financial inclusion and skill development, and infrastructure. The initiative has made a tangible impact, improving the lives of millions and addressing regional disparities.

As part of the broader vision for a developed India by 2047, the government has also introduced the Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP). This program targets 500 blocks in 329 districts, aiming for the saturation of essential government services across 40 indicators. Minister Naik’s visit to Banka is a significant step in this ongoing effort to uplift the most vulnerable communities in the country.

This will be Minister Naik’s second visit to Bihar in the last two months. In November 2024, he reviewed progress in Aurangabad, another Aspirational District in the state. His continued focus on Bihar underscores the government’s commitment to fostering development in the region.
