About Police Commemoration Day
National Police Commemoration Day is marked every year on October 21 to commemorate the police officers who have sacrificed their lives in the course of service. It was in 1960 that an Annual Conference of Inspectors General of Police of States and Union Territories was organized to observe October 21 as the National Police Commemoration Day. The day is set to honor the Bravehearts who protect the citizens of the country and are responsible for the enforcement of law and order. Police Commemoration Day is also observed as Martyr’s Day in all police forces across India.
