Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modiโs leadership for restoring peace and normalcy in Jammu & Kashmir, attributing the region’s newfound stability to the decisive actions taken by the government. During a program hosted by Bharat24 News, celebrating its second anniversary, Dr. Singh pointed to the recent visit of senior opposition leaders to โAhdoosโ Restaurant in Lal Chowk as evidence of the transformed environment in the region.
“This is a testament to the peace and normalcy that has been restored in the region,” Dr. Singh stated, underscoring the significant impact of the abrogation of Article 370. He highlighted that this historic decision has brought citizenship rights to a vast population in Jammu & Kashmir who had been deprived of these rights for over seven decades.
Dr. Jitendra Singh also criticized the past political dispensation in J&K, accusing them of exploiting Article 370 to serve their own political interests. He noted that the provision allowed for the perpetuation of dynastic rule with minimal electoral participation, as leaders could be elected with as little as 10% of the vote.
As the region marks the 5th anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, the Union Minister emphasized the transformation that has occurred across four key areas: democratic processes, governance, development, and security. He also pointed out that before 2019, democratic decentralization in J&K was stunted due to the non-implementation of the 73rd and 74th Amendments of the Panchayat Act by the previous state government, which prevented central funds from reaching the local level.
Dr. Singh credited Prime Minister Modi for instilling confidence in the people of Jammu & Kashmir, ensuring that the region plays a pivotal role in the country’s development. He praised PM Modi for envisioning a future where J&K shines as the crown jewel of India.
Switching gears to celebrate India’s National Space Day, Dr. Jitendra Singh traced India’s space journey, which began in 1969, just after Neil Armstrongโs historic moon landing. He commended the Indian scientific community for their dedication, which led to India becoming the first nation to land on the Moon’s South Pole.
The Minister credited the policy support and leadership provided by PM Modi since 2014 for accelerating India’s space missions and unlocking the potential of the country’s scientific community. The number of space startups has surged to nearly 300 following the opening of the space sector to private participation. Echoing the Finance Ministerโs projection, Dr. Singh highlighted that Indiaโs space economy is expected to grow from $8 billion to $44 billion within the next decade.
Dr. Singh concluded by emphasizing that Prime Minister Modi has enabled Indiaโs space scientists to fulfill the dream of Vikram Sarabhai, the father of Indiaโs space program, by creating an environment where Indiaโs talent can thrive and demonstrate its capabilities to the world.
