Tri-Services Future Warfare Course Tackles Cyber and Cognitive Challenges

The Tri-Services Future Warfare Course (FWC-3), taking place from February 2 to February 25, 2026, at the esteemed Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, has progressed into its crucial Cognitive and Cyber Warfare module. This segment is pivotal for understanding the emerging realms of conflict and the evolving nature of warfare. The course’s primary aim is to provide officers with a robust grasp of cyber, information, and cognitive warfare, enhancing their operational foresight and adaptive thinking capabilities.

In his address to participants, Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit, Chief of Integrated Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC), underlined the rising significance of cyber and cognitive aspects in future conflicts. He remarked that military decision-making and operational strategies will increasingly rely on the ability to manage complex information environments, counter adversarial campaigns, and deploy digital tools effectively. He also emphasized that India’s readiness in these crucial areas is vital for sustaining credible deterrence and operational superiority.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration for Enhanced Insights

The diverse group of participants—including officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with DRDO scientists, academia, and industry representatives—fostered a vibrant exchange of ideas. This collaborative environment enabled participants to investigate how cognitive and cyber capabilities can be integrated into multi-domain operations. They assessed the potential of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, neural networks, and automated intelligence systems in securing operational advantages.

The inclusion of expertise from industry and academic circles further underscored the course’s focus on bridging operational needs with technological advances. Participants gained valuable insights into practical applications and current technological trends pertinent to national security. By marrying theoretical frameworks with operational scenarios and multi-domain perspectives, FWC-3 equips participants to tackle both conventional and unconventional threats effectively.

Looking Ahead: Comprehensive Training for Future Realities

As the course continues, upcoming modules will cover multi-domain operations, as well as specific land, naval, and air warfare strategies. This will culminate in scenario-building exercises and presentations addressing critical operational challenges. FWC-3’s holistic approach ensures that participants not only identify emerging threats but also craft actionable strategies, bolstering India’s operational leverage in an increasingly complex global security environment.
