Jainendra Kumar (2 January 1905 – 24 December 1988) was an Indian Hindi writer, critic, and editor.
Life and Career
Jainendra Kumar was born on 2 January 1905, in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, India. He completed his early education in Mathura and later moved to Agra for further studies. He attended St. John’s College in Agra, where he completed his bachelor’s degree. He then went on to pursue a master’s degree in English literature from Agra University.
Jainendra Kumar started his career as a teacher at St. John’s College in Agra. He later joined the Hindi department at the same college and taught Hindi literature. He also worked as a lecturer at the University of Allahabad and later became the head of the Hindi department at the University of Delhi.
Jainendra Kumar was a prolific writer and wrote several novels, short stories, and critical essays. Some of his notable works include “Tyagpatra,” “Naye Devta,” “Muktibodh,” and “Dipashikha.” He was known for his realistic portrayal of society and his deep understanding of human psychology.
