Students Shine at 36th National Youth Parliament Competition

The GMC Balayogi Auditorium in New Delhi served as the vibrant backdrop today for the Prize Distribution Function of the 36th National Youth Parliament Competition, 2025–26 for Kendriya Vidyalayas. Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice, presided over the event, celebrating the achievements of young minds who excelled in this prestigious competition.

During his address, Meghwal commended the students for their impressive demonstration of parliamentary procedures, emphasizing their potential as future leaders of the nation. He recalled the inspirational words of former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, urging the young participants to dream big and transform those dreams into actionable goals. He expressed his faith that the students would contribute significantly to the nation’s growth and development.

In a pressing call to action regarding environmental issues, the minister administered the LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) Pledge, encouraging attendees to adopt healthier lifestyles aimed at preserving the planet.

Highlighting the occasion further, the students from Dr. Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya, the national champions of this year’s competition, performed a repeat of their Youth Parliament session, receiving accolades from the audience for their skilled portrayal of parliamentary dynamics.

Shri Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Secretary of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, praised the outstanding effort of the students, noting their understanding of parliamentary protocols and their ability to uphold the dignity of parliamentary discourse. He indicated that the Youth Parliament Programme is a vital platform for instilling democratic values, with approximately 200 Kendriya Vidyalayas participating annually, and plans to expand this number to 250–300 in the future.

Dr. Satya Prakash, Additional Secretary of the Ministry, welcomed guests and participants, advocating for active engagement with the principles of parliamentary democracy. He stressed the paramount role of youth in shaping India’s future, particularly in sectors like Artificial Intelligence and technology.

Ms. Chandana Mandal, Additional Commissioner (Academic) of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, lauded the Youth Parliament Programme for providing a unique educational experience that not only familiarizes students with parliamentary practices but also cultivates essential life skills.

This year, the competition saw intense participation among 200 Kendriya Vidyalayas from 25 regions, culminating in regional winners competing at the national level. The coveted “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Running Parliamentary Shield” was awarded to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya, alongside the National Trophy for their top position.

Zonal winners included Kendriya Vidyalaya, Mathura Cantt. in the West Zone and PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 AFS, Madurai in the South Zone, among others. Additionally, trophies were awarded to 20 regional winners across different states, highlighting the breadth of talent present at this year’s competition.

Shri A.B. Acharya, Director of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, concluded the event with a vote of thanks, recognizing the collective effort of all participants, teachers, and officials that led to the competition’s success and the overall engagement of students in the Youth Parliament Programme.
