Solar Projects of 10.2 GW Developed in Solar Parks: Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy and Power

This was informed by the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy and Energy the “Development of solar parks and ultra mega solar energy projects” scheme. has an approved allocation of Rs. 8,100 crores.

The scheme has been extended until the 2025-26 fiscal year without any additional financial implications. Therefore, no additional funds are allocated for the extension of the scheme.

The minister informed that the government has so far approved 50 solar parks with a combined capacity of 37,990 MW in 12 states across the country. Against this fine, 11 Solar Parks were completed with a total capacity of 8,521 MW and 7 Solar Parks were partially completed with a total capacity of 3,985 MW. In these parks, solar projects have been developed for a total capacity of 10,237 MW.

The Minister also informed that the electricity generation capacity of solar projects installed in various solar parks has increased by 2,292 MW in the past three years and in the current year.

Approximately 69,000 hectares of land for Solar Parks have been acquired so far. Land provision for solar farms is the responsibility of the relevant State/UT government. Furthermore, the Solar Park scheme encourages the use of waste/non-agricultural land for the development of Solar Parks.
