Shri Dharmendra Pradhan Launches Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025

Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, has officially launched the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, an innovative initiative aimed at engaging students across schools in India. This nationwide movement, organized by the Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL) in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, and AICTE, seeks to foster a culture of innovation among students. During the launch event, the Minister unveiled the initiative’s jingle and logo, marking the beginning of a significant educational endeavor.

Launch Event Highlights

The launch event was attended by several dignitaries, including Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy, and other officials from the Ministry of Education, AICTE, and NITI Aayog. The presence of these key figures underscored the initiative’s importance in promoting educational innovation. Minister Pradhan emphasized that the Viksit Bharat Buildathon is the largest school hackathon to date, designed to inspire students to create and innovate. He outlined four central themes for the initiative: โ€˜Vocal for Local,โ€™ โ€˜Atmanirbhar Bharat,โ€™ โ€˜Swadeshi,โ€™ and โ€˜Samriddhi.โ€™ The Minister expressed his belief that this initiative will empower students to become the driving force behind a prosperous and self-reliant India.

Objectives of the Buildathon

The Viksit Bharat Buildathon aims to stimulate creative thinking among students, encouraging them to contribute to national development. It seeks to promote self-reliance and sustainable growth while engaging schools in synchronized innovation efforts. The initiative aspires to position India as a global innovation hub, potentially setting a world record in the process. Additionally, it aims to celebrate young problem-solvers on both national and international platforms. Building on the success of the School Innovation Marathon 2024, the Buildathon will also support programs like the Student Innovator Programme (SIP) and the Student Entrepreneurship Programme (SEP), which have already led to patents and startup ventures from Atal Tinkering Labs.

Timeline and Participation

The Viksit Bharat Buildathon officially commenced on September 23, with students invited to register on the dedicated portal until October 6. Following this registration phase, schools will have a preparation period from October 6 to October 13, during which teachers will assist student teams in submitting their ideas and prototypes. The core event, the Live Synchronized Innovation Event, is scheduled for October 13. After this event, students will have until October 31 to finalize and submit their entries. A panel of experts will evaluate these submissions from November 1 to December 31. The initiative will culminate in January 2026, when the top 1,000 winners will be announced and honored.

Promotional Efforts

To further promote the Viksit Bharat Buildathon, a video was screened during the launch event, showcasing its themes and objectives. This visual presentation aimed to engage students and educators alike, highlighting the initiative’s potential impact on fostering innovation in schools across India. The Buildathon represents a significant step towards nurturing a generation of innovative thinkers and problem-solvers, aligning with the government’s vision of a self-reliant and prosperous nation.
