Ravindra Jadeja Outshines KKR’s Mentor to Take the Lead at CSK

Ravindra Jadeja etched his name into Chennai Super Kings’ history by becoming the franchise’s all-time leading wicket-taker during their IPL 2025 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Jadeja surpassed Dwayne Bravo’s record of 140 wickets, claiming his 141st by dismissing KKR’s captain Ajinkya Rahane. As of now, Jadeja’s impressive IPL tally stands at 168 wickets from 251 matches, complemented by 3,142 runs scored at a strike rate of 129.57. In a competitive match, KKR set a target of 180 runs for CSK after posting 179 for 6.

KKRโ€™s Innings Highlights

Kolkata Knight Riders began their innings with an opening partnership between Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine. However, Gurbaz fell early to Anshul Kamboj, managing only 11 runs. The powerplay phase proved fruitful for KKR, as they reached 67 runs for the loss of just one wicket. Ajinkya Rahane and Narine built a quick 50-run partnership in just 25 balls, setting a solid foundation for KKR. Rahane contributed significantly with a well-crafted 48 runs off 33 balls, hitting four boundaries and a six before being dismissed by Jadeja.

The KKR innings saw a key partnership between Andre Russell and Manish Pandey, who added 46 runs in 27 balls. Russell showcased his aggressive batting style, scoring 38 runs off just 21 balls, which included four fours and three sixes. However, his innings came to an end at the hands of Noor Ahmad, who was instrumental in KKR’s collapse. Rinku Singh joined Pandey but could only manage 9 runs before becoming one of Ahmad’s victims. The final overs saw Pandey and Ramandeep Singh adding a mere 16 runs, concluding KKR’s innings at 179 for 6.

Noor Ahmad’s Bowling Brilliance

Noor Ahmad was the standout bowler for Chennai Super Kings, delivering an exceptional performance with figures of 4 wickets for 31 runs. His critical strikes included the dismissals of both Narine and Russell, turning the tide in favor of CSK. Jadeja and Kamboj supported him well by claiming one wicket each, while the other bowlers remained wicketless. Ahmad’s ability to claim wickets during crucial phases of the match played a significant role in restricting KKR to a chaseable total. CSK’s next challenge would be to successfully chase down the target of 180 runs, setting the stage for an exciting finish.

Jadeja’s New Milestone

With his latest achievement, Ravindra Jadeja not only leads CSK’s all-time wicket-taker list but also ranks second in overall T20 wickets for the franchise, trailing Bravo by just four wickets. Jadejaโ€™s consistent performance as both a bowler and a batsman has made him a pivotal player for CSK. As the tournament progresses, fans will be keen to see how many more records he can break and how he continues to contribute to the team’s success in IPL 2025.
