Earlier in the day, Argentina’s defense minister visited the National War Memorial and laid a wreath as he paid his respects to fallen heroes. The visiting dignitary was also presented with a Tri-duty Guard of Honor before talks with the Raksha Mantri.
Mr. Jorge Enrique Taiana arrived in New Delhi on 17 July 2023 for a four day visit to India. He is accompanied by the Secretary of International Affairs of the Argentine Ministry of Defense Francisco Cafiero.
The Argentine Defense Minister visited BrahMos Aerospace and is scheduled to interact with key think tanks in Delhi. He will also travel to Bengaluru and visit Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) facilities and interact separately with defense start-ups at an event organized by Innovations for Defense Excellence (iDEX).
India-Argentina relations were upgraded to the level of a strategic partnership in 2019. A memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation has also been in place since 2019, while both sides are committed to concluding further tools to deepen the engagement. India and Argentina are working closely to make defense commitments an important aspect of their strategic partnership.
