OnePlus Watch 3 Launches Amid Typo Controversy

Last week, OnePlus unveiled its latest flagship smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch 3, but the launch was marred by a typographical error. The backplate of the smartwatch mistakenly reads “Meda in China” instead of the correct “Made in China.” OnePlus has acknowledged the error as “totally unintentional” and is offering optional free returns for customers who prefer not to keep the device with the typo.

OnePlus Watch 3 Returns Policy

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), OnePlus USA confirmed the typographical error on the OnePlus Watch 3. The company described the mistake as “unintentional,” explaining that it “slipped through” during production. Customers who have pre-ordered or purchased the smartwatch can return it at no cost if they choose not to keep it. OnePlus humorously noted that those who decide to keep the watch with the typo will own a “super limited edition” version, emphasizing its uniqueness.

OnePlus has also announced that it is refreshing its stock of the OnePlus Watch 3 to include corrected units. The smartwatch is priced at $329 (approximately Rs. 29,000) in the United States. To encourage sales, the company is offering a $30 (around Rs. 2,600) coupon discount, and customers can receive an additional $50 (about Rs. 4,300) off when trading in an old smartwatch. Pre-orders are currently open, with deliveries set to begin on February 25.

The screen is protected by sapphire crystal glass and is framed with titanium alloy bezels for added durability. The smartwatch meets MIL-STD-810H standards and has an IP68 rating, making it resistant to dust and capable of withstanding water immersion up to 5 ATM.

Powered by the Snapdragon W5 processor and a BES2800BP MCU, the OnePlus Watch 3 comes with 32GB of onboard memory and operates on Google’s Wear OS 5 alongside a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). For health and fitness tracking, it includes a wrist temperature sensor, an optical heart rate sensor, and an optical pulse oximeter sensor. OnePlus claims that the smartwatch can last up to five days in smart mode and up to 16 days in power saver mode on a single charge.
