NITI Aayog Unveils Key Report on India’s Professional Services Sector
In a significant move to enhance India’s professional services landscape, Shri Ashok Kumar Lahiri, Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, rolled out the third report in the _Services Thematic Series_ on August 10, 2026. This launch occurred during a session of the High-Powered ‘Education to Employment and Enterprise’ Standing Committee, which saw participation from prominent figures including Smt. Nidhi Chhibber, CEO of NITI Aayog, and Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI).
The report, titled “_India’s Services Sector: Insights on Regulatory Regime in Professional Services_”, provides a comprehensive examination of India’s regulatory framework concerning professional services. This assessment benchmarks India’s regulatory policies against those of selected international jurisdictions, highlighting major challenges faced by the sector. The findings underscore the need for a streamlined approach to unlock the potential of India’s professional workforce.
Professional services play a crucial role in India’s services economy, constituting approximately 25% of the nation’s total services exports.
