Celebrating Excellence in Panchayati Raj

The National Panchayat Awards 2024 will highlight the achievements of Panchayati Raj institutions across India. The awards cover various categories, including the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar and the Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar. These awards are crucial for acknowledging the efforts of Panchayats in areas such as poverty alleviation, health, sanitation, and women empowerment. By recognizing these exemplary practices, the awards aim to motivate other Panchayats to adopt similar initiatives, fostering holistic rural development.

The ceremony will also feature an address by the Honโ€™ble President of India, which is expected to inspire both awardees and attendees. The focus will be on the importance of decentralized governance and the role of local bodies in achieving sustainable development goals. This recognition not only honors the awardees but also serves as a call to action for other Panchayats to strive for excellence in their respective domains.

Unveiling Best Practices and Innovations

During the ceremony, Union Minister of Panchayati Raj, Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh, will unveil a booklet titled “Best Practices on Works of Awardee Panchayats.” This booklet will document the innovative and impactful practices of the award-winning Panchayats. The first copy will be presented to the Honโ€™ble President of India. This initiative aims to share successful strategies and inspire other local bodies to implement similar practices.

Additionally, the digital transfer of award money to the winning Panchayats will take place during the event. A short film showcasing the outstanding efforts of some awardee Panchayats will also be screened. This film will highlight the role of training institutes in enhancing the capabilities of Panchayati Raj institutions. By showcasing these best practices, the ceremony will serve as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration among Panchayati Raj institutions across the country.

Encouraging Sustainable Development in Rural Areas

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has undertaken a comprehensive exercise to select well-performing Panchayats across various thematic areas. The primary goal is to encourage these local bodies to excel further and inspire others to achieve their best. This initiative aligns with national objectives aimed at promoting ease of living and sustainable, inclusive development in rural areas.

The awards are pivotal in recognizing the contributions of Panchayati Raj institutions to various sectors, including health, child welfare, water conservation, and social justice.
