Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah 2026 Engages Over 1.31 Crore Citizens

The Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah, celebrated from June 17 to June 26, 2026, saw an overwhelming participation of over 1.31 crore citizens. This initiative included a diverse range of activities aimed at raising awareness and mobilizing the community. Events like Nasha Mukti Mitra registration drives, seminars, training programs for children and youth, street plays, and various competitions played a pivotal role in engaging the public in the fight against substance abuse.

Commemoration of International Day Against Drug Abuse

The Saptah was held to honor the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, culminating in a National Awareness Programme at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (DSVV) in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on June 26, 2026. Hon’ble Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, and Dr. Chinmay Pandya, Pro Vice-Chancellor of DSVV, were among the notable figures present at the event.

Community Participation in the Nasha Mukt Rally

Dr. Virendra Kumar led a Nasha Mukt Rally that drew around 4,000 participants, showcasing a strong public endorsement for the campaign against drug abuse. During the event, he administered the Pledge Against Drug Abuse and the Pledge for Ageing with Dignity, reinforcing the government’s dedication to fostering a drug-free and inclusive society.

Inclusivity and Collaboration in Tackling Substance Abuse

The gathering attracted thousands of individuals both in-person and online, including students, volunteers from spiritual organizations, government representatives, and community stakeholders from across the nation. The engagement emphasized a united approach involving states, union territories, line ministries, and addiction treatment facilities, underscoring a shared commitment to establishing a Nasha Mukt Bharat.

Key Agreements to Enhance Collaborative Efforts

A significant moment during the programme was the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment and the All World Gayatri Pariwar. These agreements focus on enhancing efforts in awareness generation, community mobilization, and drug demand reduction, while also promoting dignified ageing across the country.

Recognizing Efforts and Contributions

The programme highlighted and appreciated the contributions of various states, union territories, districts, and institutions in advancing the goals of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA). Special recognition was given to the Nasha Mukti Mitras for their exceptional dedication in raising awareness and mobilizing their communities against substance abuse. Winners of state-organized competitions under NMBA were also honored for their impactful contributions to promoting a drug-free society.

The successful observance of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Saptah 2026 reinforces the Government of India’s steadfast resolve to combat drug abuse through a comprehensive approach that involves all sectors of society. The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment encourages citizens, educational institutions, and community organizations to continue their participation in this vital national movement towards achieving a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat, Khushhaal Bharat.’
