Kaushal Mahotsav Empowers Youth with Job Opportunities in Balurghat

Thousands of eager young individuals gathered in Balurghat for the Kaushal Mahotsav, a significant event aimed at bridging the gap between job seekers and potential employers in Dakshin Dinajpur and beyond. Hosted by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) in partnership with the Government of West Bengal and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), the Mahotsav marked a historic occasion with over 7,500 interviews conducted, leading to more than 4,500 candidates being shortlisted for various positions.

Taking place amidst an enthusiastic crowd, the event offered over 7,000 job opportunities from more than 50 employers across diverse sectors. Participants sought career paths in industries such as manufacturing, retail, logistics, healthcare, hospitality, food processing, banking and financial services.

Key Government Figures Attend

The Kaushal Mahotsav attracted notable dignitaries, including Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education and for Development of the Northeastern Region, as well as other state officials such as Shri Kshudiram Tudu, Minister for Tribal Development, and Shri Joyel Murmu, Minister of State for Irrigation and Waterways. Their presence underscored the event’s importance in empowering local youth through skill development and job placement initiatives.

Promoting Lifelong Learning

During his address, Dr. Majumdar emphasized the critical role of education and skills as essential pillars of employability. He noted that the Skill India Mission, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to equip the youth with skills that facilitate access to job opportunities. He encouraged attendees to leverage technology effectively, advising them to use their mobile devices for learning and skill enhancement rather than mere entertainment.

Dr. Majumdar also commended Shri Jayant Chaudhary, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development, for executing this initiative in such a remote area, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to expanding access to career opportunities for aspiring young professionals.

A Diverse Array of Employers

The event saw participation from a wide range of companies, including industry giants like Royal Enfield, Wipro, Axis Bank, and many others. This extensive representation provided local candidates unprecedented access to interviews and potential job placements.

Overall, the Kaushal Mahotsav stands as a flagship initiative by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, aimed at fostering meaningful connections between young talent and employment prospects, ultimately creating a positive impact in the community.
