John Abraham’s Football Film 1911 Shelved Indefinitely

Bollywood star John Abraham has officially announced that his much-anticipated football film, 1911, will not be moving forward. The actor, who was set to portray the legendary footballer Shibdas Bhaduri and produce the film through his company, JA Entertainment, shared this disappointing news during a recent interview. Despite extensive discussions and changes throughout the projectโs development, Abraham confirmed that the film has been put on hold for the foreseeable future.
Reasons Behind the Project’s Halt
In a candid conversation with PTI, John Abraham expressed his regret over the shelving of 1911. He stated, โUnfortunately, that filmโs not happening because weโve been through a lot of processes, and the idea sounds good. But weโve seen a lot of films on football.โ Initially, the project was under the direction of acclaimed filmmaker Shoojit Sircar, but later transitioned to Nikkhil Advani. The reasons for the project’s ultimate cancellation remain undisclosed. However, Abraham hinted at a potential revival in the future, saying, โWeโve parked that for now,โ leaving fans with a glimmer of hope for the film’s return.
Future Projects on the Horizon
Beyond the disappointment of 1911, John Abraham addressed speculation regarding his involvement in a biopic about former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria. Known for his role in high-profile cases such as the 1993 Bombay serial blasts and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Mariaโs story is compelling. Abraham clarified, โThe Rakesh Maria biopic is in the discussion stage. I havenโt signed a single film. Iโm waiting for the release of The Diplomat, and then Iโve got an exciting film, Tehran. I havenโt signed anything, but hopefully, the day I do, Iโll let everybody know.โ This statement indicates that while 1911 may be on hold, Abraham is actively exploring other cinematic opportunities.
Upcoming Releases: The Diplomat and Tehran
John Abraham is preparing for the release of his upcoming film, The Diplomat. Produced by Bhushan Kumarโs T-Series, this thriller was initially scheduled to premiere on March 7 but has now been postponed to March 14, coinciding with the Holi celebrations. Directed by Shivam Nair, the film features Abraham in the role of J.P. Singh, Indiaโs Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad. Additionally, the actor is set to star in Tehran, another action thriller that promises to showcase his intense screen presence. With these projects on the horizon, fans can look forward to seeing more of John Abraham in the near future.
