JAPAN INDIA MARITIME EXERCISE 2022 (JIMEX 23) CONCLUDES

The seventh edition of the Japan India Maritime Exercise 2022 (JIMEX 23) hosted by the Indian Navy concluded in the Bay of Bengal with the two sides saying goodbye with a customary steampast. The Indian Navy vessels Delhi, Kamorta and Shakti, under the command of RAdm Gurcharan Singh, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet and the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) vessel Samidare under the command of RAdm Nishiyama Takahiro, Commander Escort Flotilla One, attended at six a day’s exercise.

JIMEX 23 witnessed complex exercises, jointly undertaken by the two navies. Both sides engaged in advanced level exercises in all three domains of maritime warfare: surface, subsurface and air. In addition to the ships and their integrated helicopters, the exercise also saw the participation of fighter jets, maritime patrol aircraft and a submarine. JIMEX 23 concluded on a positive note by revalidating common procedures and improving interoperability between IN and JMSDF.
