Indian Railways Enhances Passenger Experience with New Waiting Areas

Union Minister for Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw conducted a thorough review of the ongoing developments for passenger holding areas at Anand Vihar Terminal and Udhna Railway Station from Rail Bhawan in New Delhi on Tuesday. Joining him in the session was Union Minister of State for Railways, Shri V. Somanna. This review aimed at accelerating the current projects, tackling challenges at the site, and ensuring that the facilities are completed ahead of the upcoming major festival surge.

The focus was on an array of crucial factors such as civil works, removal of obstructions, utility shifting, structural enhancements, and essential amenities for passengers. The new Yatri Suvidha Kendras, or Passenger Holding Areas, are set to be operational before the festival rush, delivering safer and more organized waiting arrangements for travelers.

Anand Vihar Terminal Developments

The Yatri Suvidha Kendra being developed at Anand Vihar Terminal is proceeding in two phases. Phase-I is set to create well-organized waiting space for approximately 4,000 passengers. Currently, work involving foundations, plinth beams, structural steel fabrication, and other associated activities is advancing swiftly.

Subsequently, Phase-II will further enhance the facility, allowing it to accommodate around 7,000 passengers upon its completion, significantly bolstering the terminal’s passenger capacity.

Progress at Udhna Railway Station

Simultaneously, plans for the Yatri Suvidha Kendra at Udhna Railway Station are ambitious, aiming to serve approximately 15,000 passengers at once. Remarkable progress has already been observed at this site.

Upon completion, Udhna station is expected to facilitate improved connectivity and support the orderly movement between the holding area and the platforms. This enhancement will greatly aid in managing passenger flows effectively within the station.

Future of Passenger Travel

The implementation of the Yatri Suvidha Kendras at Anand Vihar Terminal and Udhna Railway Station represents a significant commitment by Indian Railways to upgrade infrastructure in response to growing passenger numbers. These initiatives are designed to provide a more comfortable and organized environment during peak travel times, thereby reducing congestion at stations.

Through these innovative steps, Indian Railways continues to prioritize passenger convenience and safety, creating a more seamless travel experience for millions who depend on its services every day.
