India Showcases Advanced Air Power in Operation Sindoor

On December 18, 2025, while addressing the Air Force Commanders’ Conclave in New Delhi, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh highlighted the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) impressive operational capabilities showcased during Operation Sindoor. He praised the force for its technological advancement, agility, and strategic confidence, emphasizing the crucial role it plays in safeguarding national interests in a dynamic global landscape.

Shri Rajnath Singh commended the IAF for its swift and precise actions in neutralizing terror camps, while also managing the fallout from Pakistan’s reaction post-strike. He expressed that the steadfastness of the Indian populace during enemy provocations reflects the people’s deep trust in the Armed Forces and their operational readiness. “When faced with threats, instead of hiding, Indians remained calm and went about their daily lives,” he stated, reinforcing faith in national security measures.

The Raksha Mantri pointed to various modern conflicts, including the Russia-Ukraine war and previous air strikes, to underline the evolving nature of warfare. He asserted that air power now serves as a decisive strategic instrument, capable of conveying strong messages to adversaries while aligning military objectives with national goals. “Speed, surprise, and shock effect are now pivotal characteristics of air power,” he explained.

In his address, Shri Rajnath Singh acknowledged the role of India’s air defense mechanisms during Operation Sindoor while reiterating the Government’s commitment, under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, to strengthen the country’s security infrastructure. He noted, “21st century warfare is not merely about weaponry; it also involves advanced ideas, technology, and adaptability.” He emphasized the importance of mastering cyber warfare, artificial intelligence, and satellite-based capabilities in modern conflicts.

Pointing to the Sudarshan Chakra initiative, introduced by Prime Minister Modi, Shri Rajnath Singh expressed confidence that this would enhance the protection of national interests moving forward. He also highlighted the significance of developing indigenous jet engines as a national priority, signaling a strong vision for self-reliance in defense innovation.

Additionally, the Government is actively seeking partnerships with the private sector, including start-ups and MSMEs, to advance the modernization of the Armed Forces. As of November 2025, 672 solutions have emerged from the iDEX initiative, showing growing interest from youth in the defense sector.

Shri Rajnath Singh characterized Operation Sindoor as a model of tri-service integration, stressing that collaboration among the forces is essential for enhancing national security. He praised the IAF’s humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions, both domestically and globally, stating that their proactive support during crises has significantly enhanced public trust.

The conclave was attended by top officials, including Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, providing a strategic platform for IAF leaders to outline operational priorities and strategies to address future challenges, strengthening India’s defense capabilities.
