The nation came together to honor the heroic security personnel and staff who sacrificed their lives while defending the cornerstone of democracy. This solemn commemoration was attended by a host of dignitaries, reaffirming the collective resolve against terrorism.
Tributes from Leaders
Key figures including Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C P Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi gathered to pay their respects to those who lost their lives during the attack. They were joined by Union Ministers, Members of Parliament, former Members of Parliament, and family members of the martyrs. The atmosphere was one of deep reflection and pride as the nation recalled the bravery displayed on that fateful day.
A Message of Gratitude
Earlier in the day, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing gratitude for the valiant efforts of the martyrs. He praised their supreme sacrifice and acknowledged the fearlessness with which they confronted the terrorists. “Their unparalleled dedication to the nation is a constant source of inspiration,” he stated, emphasizing India’s unwavering commitment to defending its democratic values and national integrity.
Remembering the Fallen Heroes
The remembrance day not only highlights the tragic events of December 13, 2001, but also celebrates the lives of individuals who stood courageously in the face of danger. Among those commemorated were security staff and personnel from various forces, including Rajya Sabha Secretariat Security Assistants Jagdish Prasad Yadav and Matbar Singh Negi, and CRPF Constable Kamlesh Kumari, all of whom demonstrated extraordinary courage during the attack.
