India Launches Solar Skill Vans to Bridge Digital Divide

In a groundbreaking initiative to enhance digital access and skills training in India, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, unveiled five new Solar Community Hub Skill Vans today. This initiative, developed by Dell Technologies in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and implemented by the Learning Links Foundation, marks a vital progression in efforts to close the digital divide across the nation.

These skill vans are set to serve several communities in states including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi/NCR, Karnataka, Telangana, and Maharashtra. They aim to deliver solar-powered technology and AI-driven learning resources directly to youth, women, and underserved populations. This project goes far beyond basic digital literacy, implementing tailored skilling modules and structured pathways for employability.

Each skill van is self-sustaining, powered by renewable energy and equipped with laptops, interactive screens, internet access, and advanced learning tools designed to make education accessible in even the most remote areas. The initiative complements over 50 vocational, higher education, and community institutions, ensuring that support reaches those who need it the most.

Empowering Communities Through Technology

While addressing the media, Shri Jayant Chaudhary emphasized the importance of accessibility to technology and opportunities across India. He stated, “The Solar Community Hub Skill Vans reflect a shared commitment to making technology and opportunity accessible to every corner of India. These vans are not just digital spaces; they are centers of aspiration that merge clean energy, AI-enabled learning, and industry-specific skills to prepare our youth for future opportunities. I commend Dell Technologies and NSDC for their collaborative efforts in this noble venture.
