India Launches Advanced Monitoring System for Major Infrastructure Projects

The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) has officially launched a state-of-the-art web monitoring system named PAIMANA, designed to oversee ongoing Central Sector Infrastructure Projects costing ₹150 crore and above. This launch, which took place on September 25, 2025, marks a significant upgrade from the previous Online Computerized Monitoring System (OCMS-2006). With an aim to streamline data handling, PAIMANA adheres to the “One Data One Entry” principle, seamlessly integrating with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade’s Integrated Project Monitoring Portal (IPMP) through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

Comprehensive Coverage Across Ministries

As of December 2025, PAIMANA monitors a total of 1,392 nationwide infrastructure projects spread across 17 different Ministries and Departments. These projects, which collectively have an original cost of ₹29.68 lakh crore and a cumulative expenditure of ₹19.01 lakh crore, fall under the purview of key ministries such as Road Transport and Highways, Power, Civil Aviation, and Petroleum & Natural Gas, among others. Additionally, the Department of Sports and the Ministry of Labour & Employment have recently been added, enhancing the scope of this comprehensive monitoring initiative.

Significant Enhancements in Data Management

The PAIMANA portal not only acts as a centralized repository for data concerning national infrastructure development but also automates the generation of analytical reports. Regular updates from Line Ministries and Implementing Agencies flow into PAIMANA via its efficient API integration. This advancement has led to a remarkable reduction in manual data entry, with approximately 60% of projects tied to the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Petroleum & Natural Gas, and Coal updated automatically.

Improving Monitoring Efficiency

By providing one-click access to various web-generated reports, PAIMANA significantly enhances both data accuracy and operational efficiency. The initiative includes ongoing enhancements aimed at simplifying input forms and developing advanced analytics for better technology-enabled monitoring. Furthermore, MoSPI is actively onboarding new stakeholders and projects, which is anticipated to increase overall project volume in the future. Regular monthly review meetings with stakeholders will further strengthen evidence-based monitoring practices.
