Honoring Young Achievers on Republic Day

On the eve of Republic Day 2025, a significant event took place in New Delhi. The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment organized a special program to honor 400 students from 21 states across India. These students are beneficiaries of the PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India (YASASVI). This initiative aims to empower students from Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Backward Classes (EBC), and Denotified Tribes (DNT) communities. As part of the celebration, these young achievers have been invited as special guests to the Republic Day Parade 2025.

A Celebration of Talent and Inclusivity

The event was held at the Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial (DANM) in New Delhi. Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, addressed the gathering. He praised the PM YASASVI Scheme, calling it a crucial step toward social justice and inclusivity. Dr. Kumar emphasized that the scheme aims to inspire talented students to achieve their dreams. He expressed pride in the opportunity these students have to witness the Republic Day Parade live.

During his speech, Dr. Kumar interacted with students from various states. He highlighted the government’s commitment to the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” which translates to “Together with all, Development for all.” He stressed that this commitment transcends caste and religious boundaries. The minister’s words resonated with the students, reinforcing the belief that talent knows no limits. He stated, “Nothing can stop talent from progressing. The youth of the country is talented and energetic, and the world recognizes this.”

Objectives and Benefits of the PM YASASVI Scheme

The PM YASASVI Scheme aims to empower students from OBC, EBC, and DNT communities in multiple ways. The primary goal is to provide educational, social, and economic support. The scheme offers several benefits designed to enhance the educational experience of these students.

One of the key components is the Pre-Matric Scholarship. This scholarship provides an annual amount of โ‚น1.25 lakh for students in classes 9 to 12. This financial assistance helps cover the costs of education, allowing students to focus on their studies without financial stress.

Additionally, the scheme includes a Post-Matric Scholarship. This initiative allocates โ‚น12.75 crore for students pursuing college-level education. It ensures that higher education remains accessible to those who need it most.

The PM YASASVI Scheme also emphasizes the importance of quality education. It provides special support for top-class school and college education. Furthermore, the scheme addresses the need for better residential facilities by promoting hostel construction for OBC students. These initiatives collectively aim to create a more inclusive educational environment.

A Step Towards a Brighter Future

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Secretary of the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Amit Yadav, and Additional Secretary, Shri Amit Kumar Ghosh. Their presence underscored the importance of the PM YASASVI Scheme and the government’s commitment to empowering marginalized communities.

The recognition of these 400 students is more than just an honor; it symbolizes hope and opportunity. By inviting them to the Republic Day Parade, the government acknowledges their hard work and potential. It sends a powerful message that the future belongs to those who strive for excellence, regardless of their background.
