Government Boosts Agriculture Funding for Rajasthan and Telangana
The Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has announced significant financial support for the agricultural sectors of Rajasthan and Telangana under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PMRKVY) and the Krishonnati Yojana. In a virtual meeting conducted from Bhopal, it was revealed that Rajasthan will receive ₹340.59 crore while Telangana is allocated ₹265.12 crore. These allocations were made after a careful review of the farmers’ interests and the financial statuses of both states.
Shri Chouhan expressed his appreciation for the innovations being implemented in Telangana, particularly the new model for Farmer ID and fertilizer distribution. He congratulated the state’s Agriculture Minister, Shri Tummala Nageswara Rao, for this initiative, which aims to enhance service transparency and efficiency for farmers. Furthermore, he encouraged the Rajasthan government to focus on improving the status of Kisan Credit Cards to ensure farmers can access credit support smoothly.
The financial allocations arise from comprehensive discussions held with state agriculture officials during the Project Approval Committee (PAC) meetings. For Rajasthan, the PAC meeting on April 20, 2026, endorsed an action plan of ₹849.37 crore for the fiscal year 2026-27, which includes a central share of ₹509.62 crore. Following this, a first Mother Sanction amounting to ₹216.13 crore was approved on May 4, 2026. So far, Rajasthan has utilized ₹164.39 crore, reflecting a 76.06 percent expenditure of the sanctioned amount. The new allocation comprises ₹216.12 crore under the RKVY and ₹124.47 crore under the Krishonnati Yojana.
Similarly, Telangana’s recent PAC meeting on April 27, 2026, approved an annual action plan of ₹651.06 crore, which includes a central share of ₹390.63 crore. A first Mother Sanction of ₹157.65 crore was provided on May 12, 2026, with the state currently having spent ₹96.05 crore, or 60.93 percent of the approved amount. Telangana will receive ₹157.66 crore under the RKVY and ₹107.46 crore under the Krishonnati Yojana.
While praising Telangana’s advancements, Shri Chouhan pointed out areas needing improvement, particularly the state’s progress in the Oilseeds and Pulses Missions, urging ongoing monitoring to ensure effective implementation. He remains optimistic that these financial approvals will not only enhance agricultural infrastructure and productivity in both states but also elevate farmers’ welfare significantly.
The Minister emphasized that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the central government is committed to collaborating closely with the states to bolster resources and technical support for the benefit of farmers. The allocations are intended to drive timely and effective implementation of agricultural schemes, ensuring the benefits are felt across the farming communities of Rajasthan and Telangana.
