Google Launches Material 3 Expressive for Pixel 6 and Newer Devices with Additional Features

Google has unveiled a series of exciting new features for its Android ecosystem and Pixel devices, enhancing user experience across various platforms. Announced on Wednesday, these updates include the introduction of Material 3 Expressive for Pixel phones, Adaptive Audio for Pixel Buds Pro 2, on-wrist navigation for Pixel Watch, and innovative AI writing tools in Gboard. Additionally, users can now enjoy enhanced audio sharing capabilities and the ability to create custom Android bots, among other features.
Material 3 Expressive Enhancements
Starting Wednesday, Google rolled out Material 3 Expressive to Pixel 6 and newer devices, as well as the Pixel Tablet. This update aims to make the user experience more personalized. With Material 3 Expressive, users can utilize Live effects to animate their lock screen wallpapers and create customized calling cards for their contacts. This feature allows for a more dynamic interaction with the device, making it feel uniquely tailored to individual preferences. The enhancements are designed to elevate the aesthetic appeal of the Pixel devices, ensuring that users can express their personal style through their technology.
Adaptive Audio and Pixel Watch Navigation
Later this month, Google will introduce Adaptive Audio for the Pixel Buds Pro 2. This feature enables the earbuds to adjust sound settings based on the user’s surroundings, allowing for a more immersive listening experience while remaining aware of the environment. Users will also benefit from the ability to communicate clearly with Gemini, even in noisy settings. Furthermore, the Pixel Watch will now support on-wrist navigation, allowing users to initiate walking or biking directions on their phones and seamlessly transfer that information to their smartwatches. This integration enhances convenience for users who rely on Google Maps for navigation.
AI Writing Tools and Audio Sharing Features
Google has also enhanced Gboard with new AI writing tools that allow users to adjust the tone of their messages, making them more formal, expressive, or concise. This feature includes quick fixes for spelling and grammar, all processed locally on the device to ensure user privacy. In addition to writing enhancements, Google has introduced a new audio sharing capability that allows two LE Audio Bluetooth headphones to connect to an Android phone simultaneously. This feature enables users to enjoy music or movies together, making it ideal for shared experiences in various settings, such as cafes or public transport.
Quick Share and Androidify Innovations
The redesigned Quick Share feature on Android simplifies the process of sharing and receiving content. Users can easily switch between sending and receiving files, preview photos before sharing, and access received files immediately. A new progress indicator provides real-time updates on file transfer status, enhancing user convenience. Lastly, Google introduced Androidify, a creative tool that allows users to build their own custom Android bots by uploading a selfie or writing a prompt. Utilizing advanced technologies like Gemini 2.5 Flash and Veo 3, Androidify can generate and animate personalized bots, adding a fun and interactive element to the Android experience.
